Archer Heights — Chicago Historic Resources Survey

Eric Allix Rogers

Every building the Chicago Historic Resources Survey recorded in Archer Heights, community area #57 — 6 of them. The survey covered buildings put up before 1940 and was carried out between 1983 and 1995, so it describes them as they stood then.

Where this comes from. These are the survey’s own records, not a reading of the printed book — the database the City compiled when the survey was made. Nothing here was retyped or inferred. Where a field is blank, the survey left it blank, and that is common: it recorded an architect for about three buildings in ten and an exact year for about five in ten. Where it had only a decade it gives the decade, so “1880s” in the Date column means the survey knew no more than that.

It describes Chicago as it stood between 1983 and 1995, when the survey was carried out, and covers buildings put up before 1940. Some of these are gone. A tenant named here is the one recorded then, not now. The Chicago Landmark column is the survey’s own note at the time and is not a current designation — none on this page carried that flag on this page. For what is designated today, use this site’s own records.
